Redhook’s Longhammer IPA is a decent, but not great, IPA. Perhaps this is because I’m comparing it to Dogfish Head’s 60 min. IPA, which I had two days ago, and which is absolutely fabulous. In comparison, Redhook’s Longhammer is bland and watery. But when I forget about the Holy Grail, this is pretty damn good. One virtue of this beer is the price. It runs about $3 less per six pack than the Dogfish Head. Also, it might be a good beer to try if you desire to appreciate IPAs more, but have been put-off by the bitterness and potency of many IPAs.
if people have been put off by IPAs then they are weak girlish types. I drink ’em…they’re tasty. That being said, I still prefer a good ale to many other types of beer.
Considering that the only alternative “type” to ale is lager, I wholeheartedly agree with you. Lager=boring.
well, there’s also stouts and porters. I am talking more the individual beer types, not the two broad categories (ale and lager).
lagers ARE bleh. mmmm…ale.
